Slept in again and had a nice ride along the Casselman
AUGUST 7, 2006
Curses, I slept in again. The sounds of some type of activity in the gymnasium above me woke me up and I realized sunlight was filtering in through the windows at me. And by sleeping in, I mean I really slept in. It was almost noon!
I left my stuff at the hostel and walked over to the pizza shop and ate some lunch. By the time I returned to the hostel and was ready to leave it was already past one.
By the time i made it to the top of the hill and rode out to the Salisbury Viaduct it was already 2:30. I wanted to ride out to Keystone and see that viaduct in the light, but for how late it got, I didn’t want to add more time to my ride than it was already going to take.
I tried to keep a steady pace, but my bike was heavy. It was a pleasant ride weather wise and mostly uneventful.
I reached Pinkerton a little after six and saw the tunnel was still closed. I kept on pedaling through the small towns and enjoying the nice day.
By the time I reached Confluence, it was eight. I rode into the campground below the dam and checked into my site. I had already paid for a full campsite via an over the phone reservation. Upon checking in I learned that they had a hiker/biker area that was way more affordable than the site I got. Oh well, next time.
I set up camp, cooked some dinner and went to bed, hoping not to sleep in again.
