Countdown to the GAP

As the GAP/C&O ride quickly approaches  I have installed a little countdown widget on the site to count down the days until the trip commences. I am getting excited for the trip and look forward to writing some new blog-posts here about my planning. I will also be sharing with you what gear I use on these bike trips and what new gear I purchase. So keep a watchful eye on this site for there will be a ton of cool new stuff to come.

End of Trail Parking

I think I found a spot to park at the end of the trail. It will most likely be the Metro station at Greenbelt MD. They have a long term parking area that costs $4.50/day. Parking is free at Metro stations on weekends and holidays. The ride ends on Memorial Day which means that I might get away with a week of free parking. Or I will have to pay $45. Either way, its better than the $140 I would have to spend at Reagan Airport.

Ohiopyle

Ohiopyle on this trip is kind of up in the air. I feel it is a good stopping spot to spend the night and we could grab breakfast at Sister’s Cafe’ in Confluence. I plan to stay at one of the guest houses found here: http://www.laurelhighlands.com/lodging/guest_houses Only thing is they are a bit pricey if I am staying by myself. So I am inviting anyone who wants to spend the night in Ohiopyle on this trip to let me know. If I can get at least two other people interested, then I will stay in beautiful Ohiopyle. If not, I am going to tack an additional 10 miles to that day and stay at the Outflow Campground in Confluence. Who wants to stay in Ohiopyle?

Hello world!

This is a new website dedicated to my hiking and biking. I was originally going to make this part of my blog but then i saw what a nice job my friend Blake did with his bike ride site and figured that it would be best if my bike rides and hikes had their own website. So here it is! It will be under construction for a while, potentially inevitably, but we will see. I really want to chronicle my adventures before I start to forget what happened. Dates and names have already begun to escape me, so I best get a cracking on this. Most likely the GAP stuff will get done first, then the rest of it. And of course I should chronicle what adventures I am having as they happen now that I got this site up. So hang in there!
